World Bank issues USD100 million financial aid to Ghana

The United Nations said that a statement that was released by the World Bank said that the Bank's executive board has approived a financial aid of around USD100 million to Ghana to aid the country in its fight against coronavirus.

A total of USD30 million of emergency support is included in the package to support the country in obtaining better response systems.

The statement read that"Under this emergency package, the World Bank will support the government of Ghana to prevent, detect, and respond to the COVID-19 pandemic through the Ghana Emergency Preparedness and Response Project (EPRP)".

The World Health Organization said that there were gaps in the preparedness of Ghana prior to the outbreak of coronavirus, such as inadequate financial resources.
