A survey that was conducted by the Association of German Chambers of Industry and Commerce (DIHK) in Germany on Friday showed that companies in the transport and logistics sector in the country saw a shortage in staff.

Transport and logistics firms in the country had an important role in the ongoing coronavirus crisis providing the economy and private customers with supploes, the Chamber said, adding that the sector was "struggling with enormous challenges."

Ilja Nothnagel, member of the DIHK management board, said that the firms in the sector have been negatively impacted by the lack of global drivers.

Orders as well have been cancelled due to the hospitality, retail and manufacturing industries restrictions, which imposed negative effects on over half of the surveyed German firms.
