Ukraine- President Zelensky meets with heads of factions and groups


(MENAFN- UkrinForm) President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky has held a meeting with the heads of parliamentary factions before an extraordinary meeting of the Verkhovna Rada over the coronavirus pandemic, according to a statement on the president's website posted on Thursday evening.

'President Volodymyr Zelensky met with the heads of the parliamentary factions ‘Servant of the People', ‘Batkivshchyna', ‘Opposition Platform - For Life', ‘Holos' (‘Voice') and ‘European Solidarity', as well as deputy groups ‘For the Future' and ‘Trust', reads the statement.

President Zelensky stressed the importance of the presence of all MPs at the extraordinary meeting, as Ukraine is facing great challenges and the Verkhovna Rada must help overcome them.

'You see how difficult the situation in the world and in Ukraine is. We do a lot to protect Ukrainians from coronavirus. However, the issue is not just about masks and healthcare. We need to protect the economy, adopt a number of initiatives to help businesses, employees of important enterprises, and socially vulnerable groups. I ask the deputies to come and vote for the proposed initiatives on Saturday. It is their responsibility to help Ukrainians in such difficult times, he said.

President Zelensky discussed with the MPs a possible agenda of the upcoming VR meeting and the initiatives to save the economy and support Ukraine. He also informed about the measures taken by the state to prevent the COVID-19 spread.

As of 22:00, March 26, Ukraine had 196 laboratory-confirmed coronavirus cases.
