Qatar University hosts 14th Career Fair


(MENAFN- The Peninsula) In order to provide Qatar University (QU) students and alumni with the opportunity to meet and interact with employers and representatives of companies to seek employment and training opportunities, the 14th Career Fair was inaugurated yesterday at QU. 
The event was inaugurated by H E Dr. Saleh bin Mohammed Al Nabit, Chairman of the Planning and Statistics Authority; Dr. Hassan Al Derham, President of QU, and Abdullah Musallam Al Dosari, Assistant Undersecretary at the Ministry of Administrative Development, Labor and Social Affairs. The four-day event will continue until March 11 at College of Business and Economics Building-QU. The event is featuring around 70 information booths from government and private organizations. 
High School students will have the chance to interact with employers and get an insight into the labor market's needs and employers' expectations as well as the various training services and internships they can follow to develop their skills, abilities and professional experience. 
Haya Al Attiya, Associate Vice-President for Student Success and Development, said: 'The QU's Career Fair is one of the most important events which are held at University. The fair has been divided in to two phases, first phase is for the students seeking for sponsorship and second phase includes employment opportunities for graduated students. In order to provide diverse opportunities for students QU will continue to host this event annually.
Maha Al Marri, Director of Career Development Center at QU,said, 'The event highlights QU's commitment to provide the local labour market with highly qualified graduates. CSC offers various services that prepare QU students to join the labour market after graduation. This event will educate students to explore their options and choose to specialise in the field of their interest. The event will feature activities and training workshops which will help the students in preparing professional life. These workshops will include the methods of writing CVs and tips for interviews. 8-9 March will be open for male students and 10-11 March will be open for female students, from 9am till 2pm.
