Lesotho- MEC applauds 'coalition partners'

(MENAFN- The Post) MASERU -MOVEMENT for Economic Change (MEC) leader Selibe Mochoboroane has applauded coalition partners for pushing for Prime Minister Thomas Thabane's ouster from office.
'I applaud them for standing up and telling the King the irregularities that Thabane is doing,' Mochoboroane said.
'I would be very disappointed if they will summersault,' he said.

Mochoboroane made these remarks at his party's rally in Matsieng on Sunday.
'We are sinking in a political crisis,' Mochoboroane said.
Mochoboroane's comments come in the wake of a letter Thabane's coalition government's partners wrote to King Letsie III on January 10 expressing their concerns about the direction the government was taking.
The letter was said to have been penned by Deputy Prime Minister Monyane Moleleki, Communications Minister Thesele 'Maseribane, and Labour Minister Keketso Rantšo.
The letter also came at a time after factions within the ABC buried the hatchet following Thabane's attempt to push out Police Commissioner Holomo Molibeli for investigating First Lady 'Maesiah Thabane over the killing of Lipolelo Thabane in June 2017.

Thabane last week officially announced his intention to step down although he did not give a date.
Mochoboroane said he was praying that the two ABC warring factions united for the best interests of Lesotho and Basotho.
'We hope the unity will bring about solutions to various challenges,' Mochoboroane said.

He said they raised awareness to the other faction that the government was not operating well and they agreed and sang the same song with them.
He said the police did their job perfectly in carrying out the investigations into the murder of Lipolelo, to the extent that they found that Thabane's phone number was used at the murder scene.
Lipolelo was Thabane's estranged wife who was gunned down in June 2017, just two days before her husband was to be sworn-in as Prime Minister, which would automatically make her the first lady.
Shortly after that Thabane married 'Maesaiah, with whom he was cohabiting.

'We are waiting for the investigations to be finished,' Mochoboroane said.
Mochoboroane said he did not understand why the police had not arrested Thabane whose phone was used but instead chased 'Maesaiah whose phone was not used.
He said the police should finish up the job they had started.
'Even if they try to wash and clean Thabane, it will not happen,' he said.

Mochoboroane said it is not only his party that has urged Thabane to resign but other parties and organisations as well.
He said if the ABC factions reunited to cover Thabane's involvement in the murder, such a plan will not work.
'He is like any other suspect, therefore, he should be treated as such,' Mochoboroane argued.

Mochoboroane said the coalition partners played their part by going to the King to lodge their grievances against Thabane.
He said the coalition partners told King Letsie III that Thabane attempted to fire Molibeli for investigating Lipolelo's murder.
He said Thabane must step down because he was now a crime suspect.
Mochoboroane said his party will keep on making noise and calling protest marches against Thabane until he steps down.
