Kuwait, Palestinians seal anti-corruption deal

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) RAMALLAH, Dec 10 (KUNA) -- Kuwait's anti-corruption watchdog and the Palestinian Authority have signed a corruption prevention strategy as part of the country's efforts to "achieve its goals" and boost cooperation with international partners.
The deal, signed on behalf of Kuwait by its deputy chief of the Anti-Corruption Authority Riyadh Al-Hajeri and his Palestinian opposite number Ahmad Barak, aims to bolster collective ant-corruption efforts, according to a statement by the Kuwaiti anti-corruption body.
Once it comes into effect, the deal encompasses the exchange of knowledge through workshops and lectures germane to the fight against corruption, the Kuwaiti official said amid international-level talks over efforts to eliminate the scourge.
The signing of the agreement is a testament to the "solid cooperation" between both sides, according to the Palestinian official, who expected the deal to pay ultimate dividends in the near future.
The talks, which kicked off on Monday and run until Wednesday, bring together officials from across the wider Arab region to discuss the pressing issue. (end)
