Japan interested to invest in Afghanistan mines: PM


(MENAFN- Pajhwok Afghan News) KABUL ok): President Ashraf Ghani on Wednesday met with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe in Tokyo and discussed with him issues in the realm of expansion of cooperation in various fields.

In a series of tweets, the president said he conveyed his sympathies over recent loss of lives in Japan due to the typhoon and extended gratitude to the people of Japan for their brilliant hospitalit.

Ghani said the peoples ofAfghanistan info-iconand Japan enjoyed a friendly relationship for years and termed Afghanistan-Japan ties as enduring and strategic.

He appreciated Japan's support for the Afghan government stance in the peace process as well as political and financial areas.

Ghani underscored that modification of mining legislations was a promising step towards attracting investments and invigorated Japanese investors and private sector to invest in Afghanistan mines.

Prime Minister Abe appreciated President Ghani for participating at the enthronement ceremony of Emperor Naruhito and expressed Japan's commitment to supporting Afghanistan in development spheres such as capacity building and literacy programs.

Shinzo Abe acknowledged Afghans' earnest fight against terrorism and said his country will continue to strive for peace in Afghanistan. He stressed that a peaceful and stable Afghanistan will lead to peace and stability in the region and theworld info-icon .

Appreciating international efforts for peace in Afghanistan, Prime Minister of Japan underlined that his country will support peace owned and managed by the Afghan people and the government.

Abe iterated that North Korea posed a threat to the security of Japan and called for support of the Afghan government for his country's stance against the North.

He called standardization of mining legislations a good achievement towards extraction and development of Afghanistan's mines and said Japan was interested to invest in Afghanistan mining sector.
