Chinese shares fell on Monday, the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index dropped 0.98 percent to set at 2,977.08 points.
The Shenzhen Component Index dropped 1.01 percent to set at 9,781.14 points.
The joint trading volume of shares in the two indexes fell to USD71.82 billion.
Most shares declined on the Shanghai bourse, losers outnumbered gainers by by 1,166 to 279 and 1,530 to 587 on Shenzhen bourse.
