Afghanistan- Ready to Suppress Taliban in North: Dostum
(MENAFN- Daily Outlook Afghanistan) KABUL - The First Vice PresidentGen. Abdul Rashid Dostum on Thursday said he is ready to defeat the Talibanwithin six months if the Afghan government and the US provide him the chance.
Speaking in a video conference in Kabul, Mr.Dostum said he has already provided his military plan for defeating the Talibanoffshoots in the northern parts of the country with the Americans, the Afghangovernment and NATO.
'I asked the president, the national securitycouncil, the US, NATO and our international friends to come and hear my planand implement it. Neither there is a need for your ground forces nor otherresources. Come and test us for six months. I don't make this claim without anycalculation, Mr. Dostum said as the embattled Afghan security forces aretackling a rising Taliban insurgency in multiple fronts in the north.
Mr. Dostum who believes that the US is facinga deadlock in the war with the Taliban suggested that any troop withdrawal fromthe country should be carried out in a ‘dignified way.
'We will tackle the Taliban. We have theability to defeat the Taliban on condition that the NATO, US, and president ofAfghanistan trust us. We are not going to disintegrate the north, Mr. Dostumsaid. 'We will not create militias. We will help the US as we did in 2001 toget out of this deadlock so that it can leave Afghanistan in a dignified wayand victorious.
Mr. Dostum has persistentlycriticized President Ashraf Ghani for not hearing his military plan to defeatthe Taliban. Tolo news)
