German government says hundreds of neo-Nazis are still roaming nation

(MENAFN) The German government has acknowledged that 714 neo-Nazis remain free across the country even though arrest warrants have been issued against them, according to general reports.

The figures were disclosed in response to a parliamentary inquiry from the opposition Left Party. Reports indicate that 115 of those wanted have fled abroad, including 20 in Poland and 13 in Austria. Among those who left the country, 39 are wanted for violent offenses.

Reacting to the data, Left Party domestic policy expert Clara Bunger said that “The number of outstanding arrest warrants against right-wing extremists has remained at an alarmingly high level for years. The authorities can no longer stand idly by; they must prioritize this problem.”

Reports also note that right-wing extremist crimes in Germany reached record levels last year. Statistics from the Federal Criminal Police Office show a total of 42,788 offenses linked to the right-wing spectrum in 2024, nearly a 50% increase compared with the previous year.
