Jordan- Premier meets US Congress delegation

(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Amman, Aug. 21 (Petra) -- Prime Minister Omar Razzaz received on Wednesday a delegation representing advisors and assistants to the US Congress members currently visiting the Kingdom.
During the meeting, Razzaz stressed the strategic relations between Jordan and the United States and the efforts exerted by His Majesty King Abdullah II to strengthen these relations in all fields.
He lauded the United States' support for Jordan, noting that it contributes to the implementation of many developmental and service projects.
The prime minister reviewed the latest regional developments, namely the Palestinian cause and the Syrian crisis, underscoring that the former is the Middle East's central issue.
As for the Palestinian cause, he pointed to the importance of boosting international efforts in achieving a just and lasting peace, leading to the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital and along the borders of June 4, 1967.
The absence of a just solution to the Palestinian cause could fuel violence and extremism in the region and the world, Razzaz warned.
On the Syrian crisis, he reiterated Jordan's firm position that the only solution to the crisis is a political one that guarantees Syria's security and stability, and creates the proper conditions for the return of refugees.
The prime minister and the delegation also tackled a number of local and regional issues.
