Deadly explosion in Afghanistan's Gardez city


(MENAFN) Local official Abdullah Hasrat said that, at least one person has been confirmed dead and six others wounded on Sunday, as an explosion rocked Gardez city, the capital of eastern Paktia region.


The explosion occurred at the second precinct of Gardez city at around 4:00PM local time and caused the death of one person on the spot and injury of six others including a university student, according to the official.


Without giving more details, the official said an investigation had been started into the case, he also said that details would be shared with media after completion of the investigation.


Meanwhile, provincial government spokesman Sardar Wali Tabasam also confirmed the explosion, saying the bomb that was planted on a car killed a senior police officer and wounded his driver.
