Jordan- Labor minister, Japanese envoy discuss cooperation


(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Amman, July 4 (Petra) - Minister of Labor, Nidal Batayneh, met here Thursday with the Japanese Ambassador to Jordan, Hidenao Yanagi, to discuss ways to enhance bilateral relations in areas of common concern.
During the meeting, Batayneh said the Jordanian-Japanese relations witnessed a "tangible" development in recent years, which its "positive" effects were reflected on the various economic, political and service sectors, adding the level of cooperation between the two countries calls for continued coordination on issues of interest to both sides, especially in the labor domain.
Batayneh called upon Japanese investors to support the establishment of more production factories in the Kingdom.
In consultation with the Japanese envoy, he asked Japanese business investors to focus on establishing factories for new products away from the textile sector, in addition to marketing Jordanian skilled manpower in Japan.
Through the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), he lauded Tokyo's support to the Ministry of Labor in implementing a number of programs, such as the Economic Empowerment Project for Persons with Disabilities to enable them to enter the labor market.
With professional guidance, he also cited JICA's assistance in carrying out the project to strengthen vocational counseling capacities for young people, in partnership with Jordanian universities and the King Abdullah Fund, especially in the labor market data.
For his part, the Japanese envoy praised the level of development and modernization witnessed by the Kingdom in all fields, expressing his country's desire to develop and strengthen relations between the two countries to achieve their common interests.
