31.3 percent decline in Turkish housings sales


(MENAFN) Turkish statistical authority TurkStat unveiled on Monday a plunge by 31.3 percent in the country's sales of houses during the fifth month of the year.

In May, Turkey sold 82,252 houses compared to the figure witnessed during the same month a year ago.

According to the statistical authority, "Istanbul had the highest share of house sales with 19.3% and 15,895 houses sold."

TurkStat revealed that Turkey sold 8,240 houses in Ankara and 5,091 in the Mediterranean resort city of Antalya, to snatch the second and third place.

It further added that the country sold 33,765 houses for the first time, with the rest being second-hand sales last month.
