Fiji to include cancer into school curriculum

(MENAFN) Fiji was declared to have reached a decision to accelerate efforts in raising cancer awareness within schools and educational institutions.

Schools around Fiji, under the government decision, will have cancer added into their curriculum.

Fijian Minister for Education, Heritage and Arts Rosy Akbar announced the resolution while addressing the Continuing Medical Education Program in "Win Against Cancer".

The minister noted that "currently we are so prescriptive in our curriculum services in Fiji because we are preparing children for exams."

Akbar added "children at a very young age must be made to understand what's happening around them."
