India raises customs duty on Pakistani products to 200 percent after MFN status withdrawal

(MENAFN) India has increased customs duty on products imported from Pakistan to 200 percent.

The decision came after withdrawal of Most Favored Nation (MFN) status granted to Islamabad by New Delhi.

India's Finance Minister said: "India has withdrawn MFN status to Pakistan after the Pulwama incident. Upon withdrawal, basic customs duty on all goods exported from Pakistan to India has been raised to 200 percent with immediate effect."

The country has withdrew MFN status to Pakistan after the fatal militant attack in Indian-controlled Kashmir.

Reports said the joint trade between India and Pakistan has increased marginally to USD2.41 billion in 2017-18.
