'Thousands of Syrians' remain stranded in IS last territory

(MENAFN) The war to retake the last pocket of territory from the Islamic State group (IS) is being paused as thousands of civilians remain stranded there.

US-supported Kurdish forces initiated an attack on Baghuz, on the Syrian side of the Iraqi border, last week.

US President Donald Trump declared that the defeat of IS would be stated "over the next 24 hours".

However, Kurdish members claimed that the news was likely to appear "in the coming few days" as civilians resumed to escape.
