Lebanon, Syria to enter direct talks over refugees repatriation


(MENAFN) Lebanon will be making a direct contract with Syria to address the repatriation of Syrian refugees, announced Foreign Minister Gebran.

This direct communication is set to be made by Ghassan Atallah, the new Minister of the Displaced, the foreign minister confirmed.

The foreign minister affirmed that "we have a new minister capable of communicating directly with Syria and with the international community about the return of refugees to their homeland."

Bassil added that Lebanon is committed to avoid entering conflicts with Syrians over the matter since both sides reached an understanding on the significance of refugees' repatriation.
