Qatar- Department of Meteorology warns of strong wind and poor horizontal visibility

Doha: Fresh to strong northwesterly wind will affect parts of thecountry from Tuesday afternoon until early ThursdayJanuary 31, reported the Qatar Meteorology Department.

The department in the morning also tweeted that the satellite images show a cloudy atmosphere over the country with possibility of sporadic rains in the North and center part.

The northwesterly winds could also increase the chances of dust blowing and could reduce the temperatures by about 3 to 5 degrees compared to the past few days.

In its daily report, the weather department said that weather inshore until 6 pmon Tuesday will be slight dust to blowing dust at some areas at times and partly cloudy with chance of light scattered rain, cold by night, warning of strong wind expected at some places during afternoon and poor horizontal visibility, the Department of Meteorology said in its daily weather report.

Offshore, it will be slight dust and partly cloudy with chance of scattered rain maybe thundery at times, warning of expected thunder rain at times/ strong wind and high sea by afternoon, the report added.

Wind inshore will be southeasterly to southwesterly 05 to 10 knot turns to northwesterly by afternoon 10 to 20 knot, reaching to 26 knot at places after midday.

Offshore, it will be southeasterly 08 to 18/22 knot with thundery, becoming northwesterly 15 to 25 knot by afternoon.

Visibility will be 4 to 08/03 kilometers or less at places at times.

Sea state inshore will be 2 to 4/5 feet at times. Offshore, it will be 3 to 5/7 feet with thundery, rises to 5 to 8 feet by afternoon.
