Bahrain obtains tenders for massive solar power project


(MENAFN) Bahrain was announced to have been offered bids for the construction of a solar power plant with a capacity of 100 Megawatts.

Bahrain's Electricity and Water Affairs Minister Dr Abdulhussain Mirza declared the news, as reported by WAM news agency.

Mirza unveiled: "we have already received tenders for the large-scale project, and Abu Dhabi Future Energy (Masdar) has emerged one of the bidders."

He further highlighted the significance of energy diversification since the sector was required to see sustainable growth from clean energy.

The tenders come as part of the Kingdom's target to generate 5 percent of renewable energy within its energy mix by 2025.
