Iran, Azerbaijan to bolster military, defense ties

(MENAFN) Iran reached an agreement with Azerbaijan to strengthen their relations in the fields of military and defense.

The news was announced on Wednesday by Iranian Armed Forces chief of staff Major General Mohammad Baqeri during an interview with the Islamic Republic News Agency.

According to the chief, "Azerbaijan is among the most important neighbors of Iran, which is also of great significance to Iran due to historical, religious, and linguistic proximity."

It comes while Baqeri was in a two-day trip to Baku, in a visit looking to hold talks on defense and security cooperation.
