Palestinians march on Israel buffer zone for 42nd consecutive Friday

(MENAFN) For the 42nd consecutive Friday, thousands of Palestinian protesters met on the Gaza-Israel buffer zone to participate in mass protests against Israel's decades-long occupation.

In a statement, Gaza's National Authority for Breaking the Siege recalled the people of Gaza to participate in the continuing rallies, organizing Friday's protest under the banner, "By our steadfastness the [Israeli] siege will be broken".

In a distinct statement, Abdul Latif al-Qanua, a spokesman for Hamas (which has governed the Gaza Strip since 2007), stated: "Our people will continue their peaceful marches until their ultimate objectives are met."

Since the protests began in March of last year, over 250 Palestinians have been martyred - and thousands others wounded - by Israeli forces deployed close the buffer zone.
