Bolivia: 17 die in 2 buses collision

(MENAFN) Over 17 people have died as 10 more were wounded after 2 buses collided head-on on a highway in Bolivia's highlands.

Police declared that passengers were buried under the rubble of the buses, which crashed Saturday in Bolivia's Andes Mountains near the town Achacachi, about 80km west of La Paz.

Police added that the reason behind the crash was excessive velocity, and did not conclude that one bus had driven into the opposite lane.

Colonel Pablo Garcia, direct of transit in El Alto confirmed: "Firefighters reached the scene to see what had happened. The people were trapped in the vehicles."
