Jordan- FM, Kenya counterpart discuss cooperation, region

Amman, Dec. 6 (Petra) -- Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Safadi and his Kenyan counterpart Monica Juma have emphasized that both countries will make full use of existing cooperation prospects through pragmatic and concrete steps.

In a meeting here Thursday, the top diplomats agreed to set up a technical team to look into agreements Jordan and Kenya should sign to unleash economic, trade and investment cooperation towards a strategic partnership that His Majesty King Abdullah and President Uhuru Kenyatta concurred on.

The protocols the two nations are working to finalize include agreements to develop trade and investment relations, air services, double taxation, higher education, food and medicine, housing and urban development, healthcare and veterinary services, agriculture and recognition of maritime certificates of competency.

The ministers discussed the latest developments in the region, including Syria, Libya and the war on terror. Safadi also hailed Kenya's supportive stance of the Palestinian people and their right to an independent state on the basis of the two-state solution. Juma also commended Jordan's role and endeavors to bring about peace and security to the region and foster Arab-African relations.
