Doha: The Peninsula newspaper is present with two publications at the 29th edition of the Doha International Book Fair being held at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Center (DECC).
The two special publications about the siege on Qatar, published by The Peninsula, is garnering a lot of interest among the visitors.
‘A Year of Determination and Triumph' written by Dr. Khalid Al-Shafi, Editor-in-Chief of The Peninsula, and a 126-page collection of articles about the unjust siege titled '365 Days of Dignity and Pride are showcased inside the Dar Al Sharq group booth. The Peninsula is a part of Dar Al Sharq Group.
The 10-day book fair, which started on November 29 will be open from 9am to 9pm except on Friday when it will remain open from 4pm to 10pm while the timings on Thursday will be from 9am to 10pm.
‘A Year of Determination and Triumph':
‘A Year of Determination and Triumph' is the title of the book authored by Dr. Khalid Al-Shafi, Editor-in-Chief of The Peninsula, to mark a year of unjust siege imposed against Qatar by Saudi-led quartet.
The book, a compilation of articles and interviews of Dr. Al-Shafi, is actually a treatise showing author's love with his country, leadership and nation at the one hand and on the other a written record of Qatar's resolution and steadfastness in the face of challenges posed by the blockade in the last one year.
Through his articles published in The Peninsula, Dr. Al-Shafi has been continuously questioning the hidden objectives of the blockading countries attached with the imposition of siege against Qatar. Dr. Al-Shafi, through his pen, exposed harms of the blockade of Qatar on the whole Gulf society and through regular appearance on Qatar TV as an analyst he always defended his homeland in the time of crisis as a patriot from the core of his heart.
The bilingual (English and Arabic) book includes his 29 columns appeared in The Peninsula in the last one year as well as excerpts from his talks at Qatar TV prime time talk show Al Haqiqa (The Truth). The exclusive interviews of Turkish Prime Minister Binali Yildirim and Turkish Economy Minister Nihat Zeybekci which Dr. Al-Shafi conducted in Turkey last year are also part of the book.
365 Days of Dignity and Pride:
To mark one year of unjust siege imposed against Qatar by Saudi-led quartet, The Peninsula newspaper had published a special 126-page book '365 Days of Dignity and Pride which shows with the help of facts and figures how Qatar has defeated the blockade and shattered hopes of architects of crisis.
Divided into 35 chapters, the book deals with various subjects and throws lights on different sectors like economy, diplomacy, sports, health, education etc. With hundreds of colourful pictures, authentic information and brief write-ups, the book merits itself to be a good read.
The beginning chapters of the book carry three speeches of Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani delivered on July 21, 2017 in his address to the nation, at the UN General Assembly session on September 19, 2017 and at the opening session of the Advisory Council on November 14, 2017.
'Inspiring the nation: A diplomatic success is the chapter covering tours and diplomatic contacts of H H the Amir with various world leaders in post siege scenario and the success of Qatar's diplomacy in international arena.
The book bears a meticulously-arranged timeline of all major happenings, developments and events occurred since June 5, 20017 till the completion of one year of siege.
