Four Omanis to ride 100km on camels across desert to promote tourism


(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Muscat- A group of Omanis will lead a convoy of camels across the desert covering over 100km over four days in a bid to promote winter tourism in the country.

Alam al Hijen (The world of camels) magazine in cooperation with the Ministry of Tourism will launch the convoy on November 28. Called Hadaa al Sahra, the convoy will include four Omanis, who will be meeting nationals as well as foreign tourists along with their journey through the desert. The trip will end on December 1.

Ahmed bin Nasser al Junaibi, supervisor of the convoy, said that it is his third trip of such a kind. The first was in 2016 and the second in 2017.

'Many lovers of camel riding, travelling in deserts and camping will join with us in the convoy. Four Omanis who will ride the camels are Mohammed al Zadjali, Amer al Wahibi, Ahmed al Mahrouqi and Hamood al Nahdi,' he said.

The trip's programme aims to preserve the cleanliness of the desert and offer some camel riding skills and mechanism of travel long distances in deserts in a short period of time.
