Qatar crush Singapore by 79 runs to win series

DOHA: Qatar yesterday crushed Singapore by 79 runs to clinch their second consecutive victory and secure 2-0 win in the series in Doha.

Qatar defeated Singapore by five wickets in their opening match on Tuesday at Asian Town Cricket Stadium.

Yesterday, Qatar while batting first posted a total of 241 runs in 49.3 overs and then bowled out their opponents for only 162 runs in 47 overs to register another comfortable win.

Qatar Cricket Association (QCA) President Yousef Jeham congratulated the squad for their all-round performance against Singapore.

'This series was a part of our preparations for upcoming international assignments, he said.

'Our preparation is on track as the national team has shown tremendous improvement in the series against Singapore, added Jeham.

' I would like to congratulate all the team members including the players and coaches for good results in the series.

He hoped that Qatar will continue to achieve good results to improve international rankings in limited overs cricket.

'One of our aims is to improve in the ICC rankings. Qatar is currently placed 23rd in ICC T20 rankings out of 106 ICC Members, and we look forward to climb more in the rankings.
