Culture minister to lead Qatar's delegation at forum in Russia


(MENAFN- Gulf Times) Qatar's Minister of Culture and Sports HE Salah bin Ghanem bin Nasser al-Ali, along with his counterparts from Russia and Italy, will be speaking at a forum in Russia, scheduled from November 15-17, it was announced.
The discussion, titled 'Unified Cultural Space: Myth or Reality?, forms part of the The VII Saint Petersburg International Cultural Forum, marking the Qatar-Russia Year of Culture 2018, organised by Qatar Museums.
Russia's Minister of Culture Vladimir Medinsky and Italy's Minister of Cultural Heritage and Cultural Activities Alberto Bonisoli will also speak at the event, organised by the Russian government through its Ministry of Culture and the Government of Saint Petersburg.
The speakers will discuss how states deal with large-scale migration and how they can help people from different cultures co-exist peacefully within the same society.
Representatives from Qatar's state authorities, businessmen and experts will also take part in a series of talks at the forum, especially at the 'Qatar as the Guest Country programme, which is dedicated to Qatar Russia Year of Culture.
The forum, recognised as a global event, attracts thousands of experts in the field of culture from around the world, including theatre, opera and ballet stars; renowned directors and musicians; public figures, and representatives of authorities and business, and academic communities.
The forum is developing in three dimensions at the same time. A large-scale business programme will be of interest to specialists in different areas of culture.
The festival programme includes multiple cultural events for residents and guests of Saint Petersburg while the business programme creates conditions for implementing projects and signing agreements in the sphere of culture.
Meanwhile, the Qatar Russia Year of Culture 2018 will allow creating the atmosphere of trust and understanding, which is crucial to enhance business relationships and strengthen economic, tourist and cultural partnership between the two countries.
Despite the differences in geography, climate and history, the two countries share common values - modernisation while saving and cherishing national traditions, and creating the most comfortable conditions for maximising human potential.
