Cyprus saves 29 Syrian refugees


(MENAFN) Cypriot police declared that Cypriot rescue teams have saved 29 Syrian refugees on Friday who had travelled from Lebanon on a perilous journey to Cyprus in an inflatable dingy.

The police confirmed that its marine branch have observed the refugees on radar as they traveled off the southeastern tip of Cyprus and took them to a fishing port.

The boat included 14 men, six women and nine minors.

The refugees confirmed that they had escaped their houses in Syria to Lebanon, from where they sailed for Cyprus.
