Oman- Crossing overflowing wadis can attract three months jail, RO500 fine: ROP


(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Muscat- With many parts of Oman likely to receive rain in the coming days, ROP has warned drivers against crossing overflowing wadis. 'Crossing an overflowing wadi can attract an imprisonment up to three months and a fine of RO500, or one of these, according to Article 49 of the Traffic Law. Moreover, the act also puts others' lives at risk,' said an ROP official.

The Directorate General of Meteorology (DGM) office has forecast clear skies for the next two days with chance of convective cloud development and isolated rain over the Al Hajar mountains and adjoining wilayats. 'Due to some disturbances in the sea, rains are expected in the coming two days with chances of low level clouds or fog formation along the Arabian Sea coast during late night to early morning on Wednesday and Thursday,' the Met official said.

The ROP official also urged drivers to be careful while driving on wet surfaces. 'Drivers should be careful while driving on wet roads to avoid skidding. Drivers need to be careful when they drive on wet roads so that they do not lose control of the vehicle,' the official said.
