Kuwait- Expatriate workers 'remittances' increase by 3.5 pc in 1st quarter


(MENAFN- Arab Times) KUWAIT CITY, July 21: Central Bank of Kuwait revealed that the remittances of expatriate workers in Kuwait increased by 3.5 percent during the first quarter of this year, reports Al-Anba daily.

In a press statement, the Central Bank said expatriates' remittances reached KD 1.029 billion in the first quarter of 2018 compared to KD 995 million in the last quarter of 2017.

The remittances of expatriate workers in Kuwait had declined during 2017 by 9.2 percent to KD 4.14 billion compared to KD 4.56 billion in 2016. Deputy Director General for Education and Rehabilitation Services at Public Authority for Disabled Affairs (PADA) Anwar Al-Ansari has announced that the total number of students accepted for overseas scholarship for the 2018/2019 academic year is 22, all of who fulfilled the requirements, reports Al- Qabas daily.

He explained that the total number of students with special needs on overseas scholarship is 96. In coordination with Ministry of Higher Education, 50 seats were reserved for people with special needs for overseas scholarships based on the specific regulations and requirements. Al-Ansari revealed that engineering and its various disciplines is one of the most specialized disciplines in huge demand.
