Eight PKK militants killed in Turkish airstrikes Sat, Sun.


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) ISTANBUL, July 1 (KUNA) -- Turkish airstrikes have killed eight militants of the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) in northern Iraq and southeastern Turkey.
In a statement released by the Turkish General Staff on Sunday, the Turkish air force launched military strikes on northern Iraqآ's Zap region and in rural areas of the southeastern Sirnak and eastern Van provinces on Saturday and Sunday.
The Turkish army had been targeting PKK positions in northern Iraq since last March, in response to terrorist attacks carried out by the party inside the country.
The PKK was listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the US and the EU. (end) ta.ag
