Iraqi president keen on brotherly bonds with Riyadh


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) BAGHDAD, Feb 24 (KUNA) -- Iraqi President Fuad Masum affirmed on Saturday keenness on cementing further "the brotherly relations" with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

An official statement quoted president Masum as affirming during a meeting with visiting Saudi journalists necessity of solidifying Riyadh' relations with regional countries on basis of principles such as boosting understanding, good neighborliness and establishing regional countries' relations on mutual interests.

"Iraq always favors solidifying peace and cooperation with the brothers and friends," he said, stressing that prioritizing common interests and adhering to security and peace are components that ensure resolving disputes, indicating that the media of the regional countries could play a key role at this level.

It is the first time that Saudi media figures visit Iraq since 28 years ago. (end) ah.rk
