(MENAFN- QNA) The European Union is not planning any major new sanctions against Russia, German Chancellor Angela Merkel said Tuesday.
But she indicated that the list of individuals targeted under the international sanctions and facing possible penalties could be extended, dpa reported.
"Further economic sanctions are not currently planned," the chancellor said, adding that the priority now is to ensure that a real ceasefire is in place ahead of winter.
She said that "significant parts" of the ceasefire agreement had not been introduced and signals further talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko.
