UK army sergeant attempts to murder wife for insurance money


(MENAFN) A court has heard a military sergeant, who claimed responsibility for attempting to kill his wife by manipulating her parachute "was better off with her alive".

Emile Cilliers, aged 38, of the Royal Army Physical Training Corps, rejects accusations of damaging Victoria Cilliers' parachute in an attempt to murder her.

The prosecution suspects that the motive behind his attempt was to grant money from her life insurance.

Mr Cilliers has reportedly been having affairs with many women.
