President Aliyev: All steps taken by Azerbaijan aimed at isolating occupant country (UPDATE)

Almost all steps and initiatives taken by Azerbaijan in the region are aimed at ensuring the country's interests, developing its economy and at the same time, isolating the occupant country, said Azerbaijan's President Ilham Aliyev.

He was making an opening speech at the meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers dedicated to the results of socioeconomic development of the first quarter of 2018 and future tasks.

All these factors have already been combined and are yielding benefit, he said.

'Today, Armenia causes no interest and no investments are made in this country. I can say for example that $3.5 billion worth investments have been made in Azerbaijan's economy in the first quarter of 2018 and the major part of this amount account for foreign investments. This is while a little more than $200 million worth investments in total were made in Armenia's economy last year and the major part of it account for diaspora organizations abroad. That's to say, there is an incomparable situation. Of course, we will continue to isolate Armenia from all regional projects,' said the president.

President Aliyev noted that today, Armenia has turned into a dead end.

'We turn them into a political, economic, energy and transport dead end. This policy will continue. We do not conceal this, we say it openly and we are right. We want our lands. We want the conflict to be resolved soon, we want the territorial integrity of our country to be restored and we want our compatriots to return to their native lands. This is a priority for us. We have mobilized all our efforts to resolve this issue,' said the head of state.

'Of course, I have repeatedly said that we should be even stronger to achieve what we want. As distinct from Armenia, we live at our own expense and our fate is in our own hands,' added President Aliyev.
