Oman- Nearly half of job seekers expect to get a break in six months: Survey


(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Muscat- As many as half of the job seekers in the country expect to find their ideal jobin six months, according to a survey.

The Bayt.com and YouGov 'Jobseeker Confidence Survey' has found that a large majority (75 per cent) of job seekers expect business conditions in Oman to 'improve' in a year's time. When it came to current business conditions, 73 per cent of job seekers thought they are 'average', 'good' or 'very good'.

Job seekers have largely positive perceptions of future economic conditions. According to the survey, more than six in ten (61.1 per cent) of Omani job seekers who responded to this question said they expect the country's economy to 'improve' within the next six months, 27 per cent expect it to remain the same, and only 11.9 per cent said it could 'get worse'.

On the availability of jobs, nearly half (47 per cent) of them are either 'somewhat hopeful' or 'very hopeful' that they would find their ideal job in the next six months. Twenty-three per cent were neutral in response to this question.

Even at the personal level, 81 per cent of job seekers said they expect their personal financial position to 'improve' or at least 'remain the same' in the next six months. 'Likewise, 88 per cent of job seekers said they expect opportunities to either improve or maintain the same level in the next six months. Currently, less than three in ten (28 per cent) Oman respondents are dissatisfied with career opportunities,' the survey said.

Data for the survey was collected online fromJanuary 18 to February 11. Results are based on a sample of 4,801 respondents from UAE, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Bahrain, Lebanon, Jordan, Iraq, Palestine, Syria, Egypt, Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Libya, Sudan and Pakistan.
