Gurugram's Bhondsi jail inmates to undergo reform through music lessons

In a bid to bring positive reform to over 2,000 prisoners lodged in Gurugram's Bhondsi jail, the authorities have recently started to help the inmates through music.
A project named 'Dhun' has been started at the prison premises in collaboration with a private broadcaster and an NGO named Indian Vision Foundation that was founded by Puducherry L-G Kiran Bedi.

The music project
The project will not only select the best singers among the inmates, but they will also be professionally trained so as to live a respectful life after being released.
A 20x20 feet music room with instruments required for professional music training has been set up inside the prison premises.
Soon, the project will be started in Sonepat, Rohtak, Bhiwani and Jind prisons as well.
Only 100 jail inmates have cleared audition rounds
The auditions
As per reports, the project is being started with the idea building a positive atmosphere in the prison and will also help inmates with music as a career option.
Out of total 2,178 inmates, 100 of them managed to clear audition rounds and amongst them, 20 prisoners have been selected for the professional one-year training course.

The project is aimed at bringing change in the lives of the inmates and help them get over the crimes they committed.
The jail superintendent said, "We are hopeful that it will reform our inmates and inspire them to take up creative pursuits. It will also help them shake off the dark memories of the crimes, find solace and peace of mind in music."
