The Beatles Live on In Reggae


(MENAFNEditorial) British musician Zak Starkey and his musical partner Sshh have launched the recording of a reggae album in Jamaica. The project started in December of 2017 and is called the Red Gold Green and Blue project. The project is influenced by Blues music and will see some of Jamaica's greatest reggae artists performing on the album. So far some of the artists who have recorded on the album have been Mykal Rose, Toots Hibbert, Big Youth, Sly and Robbie, Tony Chin and Freddie Mcgregor, all stalwarts in the reggae music industry. The project was recorded at a secret studio in Ocho Rios Jamaica which was set up by Grammy award winning producer Rob Fraboni. The project manager is reknowned USA based entertainment lawyer Cameron Husty. Several first class engineers were flown in from London Uk with Jamaica's own Grammy award winning engineer Barry Ohare also adding magic to the project.

Zak Starkey is not only the son of The Beatles drummer Ringo Starr but he is known worldwide as the drummer of the British rock band The Who. Present at several of the recording sessions on this reggae project was Sean Contractor Edwards of the Contractor Music Group who was very positively influenced by the work ethic and passion displayed by Zak Starkey in the studio. Contractor said he noticed that Zak was very humble and also very versatile as on most of the sessions he saw Zak playing guitar. Contractoris the executive producer of the recently released reggae album Tropical House Cruises to Jamaica which debuted at number 2 on the Billboard Reggae album charts and earned a Billboard Hot Shot award. Contractor's "Tropical House Cruises to Jamaica" project was digitally released through his partners Amada Records out of Atlanta and features heavy weight producers including Mojo Morgan of Morgan Heritage, who wrote and produce the track Million Dollar Check with Mojo Morgan, Wyclef, and Damain and Stephen Marley. Jethro Alonestar Sheeran, (first cousin of Ed Sheeran) produced the single Outlaw which features himself, Contractor and Tim Starr. This single Outlaw is getting extensive airplay worldwide courtesy of The DJ Grid USA and The Digital Radio Tracker. The album "Tropical House Cruises to Jamaica" also features the reggae legend Lee Scratch Perry and Switzerland based reggae artist Cookie the Herbalist.

Zak Starkey left the island of Jamaica with his musical partner Sshh for tour in Australiaand will return to Jamaica to complete the album. Zak was very influenced by reggae music growing up in the Uk and is no stranger to being to Jamaica and has even performed at the Peter Tosh Tribute concert in Kingston Jamaica. Peter Tosh is one of the founding members of the iconic reggae band Bob Marley and the Wailers. Zak and Sshh also have a solo group named Sshh. They write, produce, perform and own all of their original music for their group Sshh. The group Sshh was just signed to BMG Records and are preparing to release their first EP entitled Rising Tide and they are currently touring in Australia.
