S.Korean cigarette exports surge in 2017


(MENAFN) South Korean cigarette exports increased to a record high in 2017, due to the growing consumption of Southeast Asian countries.

The entire value of tobacco exports reached a record of 1.13b USD last year, which increased 9.7% from the 1.01b USD of 2016.

The figure has been on a stable rise, renewing records for four straight years since 2014, as the total exceeded the 1b USD mark for the first time in 2016.

Outbound shipments to Southeast Asian countries have significantly increased, as those exported to Vietnam increasing 50% to 87.7m USD from 56.4m USD in 2013, while exports to Thailand increased 120 times from 597,000 USD to 9.72m USD in the same period.
