Oman- MoH implementing RO40mn expansion projects for The Royal, Sohar, Nizwa hospitals


(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Muscat- Within the plans of the Ministry of Health (MoH) in improving services in referral hospitals, the ministry has started three expansion projects for The Royal, Sohar and Nizwa hospitals at a cost of more than RO40mn.

The expansion projects include adding some buildings, providing new medical equipment, as well as raising the number of beds for various specialisations, stated a press release.

The number of beds to be supplied in these hospitals are 553.

Fifty-six beds are for The Royal Hospital, distributed among the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU), radiology, operation theatres etc.

Some 268 new beds are for the Sohar Hospital, distributed to the Coronary Care Unit (CCU), Post-Coronary Care Unit, Intensive Care units for adults and children, Day-care, Haemodialysis sections, Cardiac Surgery Ward etc.

The Sohar Hospital will also get a new building for a Burns Unit, mothers' accommodation and a new car parking area.

The Nizwa Hospital will get 229 beds for Adults Intensive Care Unit (AICU), Special Care Baby Unit (SCBU), Paediatric Critical Care Unit (PCCU), CCU, Obstetric Surgical Unit, Accidents and Emergency Care units.
