NHS overcharged by millions
(MENAFN) The Competition and Markets Authority has discovered that Concordia, the drug company has overcharged the NHS by millions for a major thyroid treatment.
According to the CMA, in 2016, the NHS paid 34m pound on its drug, liothyronine, up from nearly 600,000 in 2006.
NHS has paid for each pack rose about 4.46 pound in 2007, to 258.19 by July 2017, almost a 6,000% increase.
The price increase was in the times after the drug was de-branded in 2007, and the CMA said the price increased regardless of "broadly stable" production costs.
