Siemens to start talks over job cuts
(MENAFN) Siemens, the German industrial firm is prepared for talks with the representatives of the German employees on its plan to cut about 6,900 jobs all over the world.
Janina Kugel, Siemens personnel chief said: "I hope that the unions will find a way to go from protest to dialogue and that we can reach a balance of interests."
According to Kugel, the company had many ways to reduce its employees without forced fire, such as offering severance pay, training and early retirement.
As the company said it will shut down facilities in the eastern cities of Goerlitz and Leipzig, nearly half of the job cuts will be in Germany.
