Hyundai presents 'Encino' subcompact SUV in China auto show


(MENAFN) In an attempt to recover the Chinese market sales, Hyundai Motor Co. has presented the 'Encino' subcompact sport-utility vehicle in a Chinese motor show.

According to the company, the Encino SUV that comes with a 1.6-liter gasoline turbo engine and a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission will be available for sale in the Chinese market in Q1 of 2018.

The company started selling advanced compact SUV, to help improve sales in China. It said the face-lifted ix35 SUV is also presented during the motor show.

In the year to September, total sales of Hyundai in China were 489,340 cars, a 37% decline from 2016's 779,000 cars, resulted by two-sided political tensions over the deployment of an advanced US missile defense system in South Korea.
