Bahrain Implements New Rule for Recruitment Agencies

(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) nama April 20 - Bahrain is implementing a new rule for recruitment agencies that will safeguard rights of workers says a Tradearabia report released Sunday. Bahrain Labour Market Regulatory Authority's (LMRA) new rules for recruitment agencies require them to deposit US $26500 (Bahraini Dinar D10000) in a bank account to deal with foreign workers' problems the report says. The new rule will protect rights of skilled and semi-skilled workers. Foreign workers lured to the country with promises of good job and salary often end up working in a different occupation on lower wages the report says. Speaking to Gulf Daily News daily LMRA Chief Executive Ausamah Al Absi said "The official gazette published the new regulations in January. We are now implementing them." The LMRA is now managing licenses of over 100 recruitment agencies a task previously handled by Bahrain's Labour Ministry. Al Absi said the mandatory deposit system is to "protect the rights of everyone". The new rules call for a tripartite contract between employer worker and recruitment agency.
