Oman- 'Lavender Memories and Other Poems' launched

(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Muscat- The beauty of the landscape of Oman is highly inspiring. This peaceful nation is a wonderful place for creativity to thrive.

'Lavender memories and other poems' is a book of poems based on Prof Ibrahim Noor al Bakry's artwork that inspired Amita Sanghvi to write poem after poem. Memories we hold close to our heart are a part of our existence, and so powerful is the work of prof Bakry, that sensibilities are evoked as you stare into the lavender hues in the paintings and poetry has overflowed. Amita's book of poems was recently launched at the Indian Embassy.

H E Indra Mani Pandey, India's Ambassador to Oman, was the chief guest and H E Mohammad al Zubair, advisor to His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said for economic and planning affairs was the guest of honour. Special guests Ajay and Kamal Khimji kindly graced the occasion. Some of the poems were composed and set to tunes and sung by Arundhati Deshmukh and musicians Mohanish Jaju and Nitish Purohit performed on the tabla and sarod. Orbit training centre Guru Srimati Premila Ramesh choreographed her dancers who danced on the musical renditions of the poems.

The evening of art, music and dance at the book launch event 'was exceptional' in the words of chief guest H E Pandey.
