(MENAFN) Turkey says that if the US doesn't hold back its support for a Kurdish-led force in Syria's Afrin district and other areas, it is willing to take action.
President Erdogan has warned over and over again of an forthcoming attack in Afrin after Washington said it would help the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), led by the Kurdish YPG militia, establish a new 30,000-strong border force.
The plan has enraged Turkey, which considers the Syrian YPG as an extension of the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) militant group, which has fought a rebellion in southeast Turkey since 1984.
Deputy Prime Minister and Government Spokesman said: "We emphasized that such a step was very wrong, Turkey has reached the limits of its patience. Nobody should expect Turkey to show more patience."
However, US Secretary of State, Tillerson has denied the US had any intention of building a Syria-Turkey border force and said the issue had been "misportrayed, misdescribed".
