Agriculture Minister, Int'l Counterparts Discuss Cooperation, Food Security

Amman, May 21 (Petra) – On the sidelines of his participation in the World Organisation for Animal Health 90th General Session held in Paris from May 18-21, 2026, Minister of Agriculture Dr. Saeb Khreisat held a series of bilateral meetings with several international officials to discuss ways to enhance agricultural cooperation and food security, and expand agricultural trade.

According to a press statement issued by the ministry on Thursday, talks were held with Spanish Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, the Georgian Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, the Bahraini Minister of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture, and the Agricultural Advisor for the Middle East region at the French Ministry of Agriculture.

During the discussions, Khreisat went over mechanisms for strengthening cooperation in animal health, facilitating the mutual flow of agricultural and food products, and increasing the volume of agricultural trade.

Khreisat also discussed importance of agreeing on veterinary health procedures to facilitate trade and protect animal health.

He underlined Jordan's commitment to developing its agricultural partnerships with various countries and exchanging technical and scientific expertise.

He stated this vision would strengthen food security and support sustainability of the agricultural sector in the face of regional and international challenges.

Additionally, he reviewed the investment opportunities offered by the Jordanian agricultural sector, adding that several of these avenues will be presented at the Jordanian-European Investment Conference scheduled to be held in Jordan this year.

He noted this upcoming event would contribute to attracting investments and promoting sustainable agricultural development.
