Pakistan Says Visit Aims to Support Iran–US Messaging Channel

(MENAFN) Iran has said that a visit by Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi is intended to help facilitate indirect communication between Tehran and the United States, according to statements attributed to Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson.

The spokesperson said the trip is meant to support the exchange of messages between the two sides and provide clarifications on ongoing diplomatic discussions, as reported by state media.

Naqvi’s visit to Iran comes amid continued regional mediation efforts by Pakistan aimed at easing tensions and encouraging dialogue between involved parties.

Iranian officials reiterated that their priorities include ending regional hostilities, addressing frozen assets, and responding to what they describe as restrictions affecting Iranian maritime and energy activity.

They also expressed skepticism about US intentions in ongoing negotiations, while calling for continued diplomatic engagement despite existing mistrust.

During meetings with Iranian officials, including President Masoud Pezeshkian, both sides discussed regional developments and broader coordination among regional and Islamic countries, according to reports.

The discussions come amid heightened regional tensions linked to broader geopolitical disputes involving Iran, the US, and allied states.
