'Threats Hide In Plain Sight&#8217 : LG To New JKP Constables

(MENAFN- Kashmir Observer) Jammu- Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Tuesday handed over appointment letters to newly recruited constables of the Jammu and Kashmir Police and urged them to remain vigilant against evolving security threats while upholding the force's legacy of courage and service.
Addressing the recruits during the appointment letter presentation ceremony in Jammu, Sinha said the nature of terrorism and law and order challenges had changed, requiring constant alertness from the police force.

“We must remain constantly alert and vigilant. The nature of law and order threats and terrorism has evolved, demanding a constant, unyielding vigilance and alert to threats that hide in plain sight,” he said.

The Lieutenant Governor said the newly inducted personnel must dedicate themselves to defending the unity and integrity of the country and strengthen the proud legacy of the Jammu and Kashmir Police.

Stressing coordination among agencies, Sinha said the security challenges faced by Jammu and Kashmir demanded teamwork and intelligence-sharing.

“When we share information, plan strategies, and confront the enemy together, we build capacities that no single institution can create alone,” he said.

Referring to cross-border terrorism, the Lieutenant Governor said India had always believed in peaceful coexistence and mutual goodwill, but was confronted with a neighbour“widely known as a source of terrorism in the world.”

“Alongside maintaining law and order, newly recruited constables must stand on the frontline of national security with determination to eliminate threats of terror,” he said.

Calling for intensified efforts against terrorism, Sinha said terror networks survive through funding channels and support systems, which must be dismantled completely.

“Terror does not sustain itself; it needs money, networks, and support systems. Using the full force of the law, we must trace and neutralize sources of funding. We must identify every network and dismantle every support system completely,” he said.

The Lieutenant Governor also underlined the importance of traditional policing methods, particularly beat policing, alongside the use of modern technology.

“In matters of law and order, beat policing proves highly effective. When a beat constable resolves that no crime will occur within their jurisdiction and that public land will not be occupied illegally, such unwavering commitment inevitably delivers results,” he said.

Describing the Jammu and Kashmir Police as a force with a distinguished legacy, Sinha said every police uniform represented courage, commitment and sacrifice.

“Each time you put on the uniform, remember that you are adding a proud chapter to its legacy. Take pride in the ideals of defence and service that the Jammu and Kashmir Police embodies, for they define both your duty and your honour,” he said.

The Lieutenant Governor also praised the police force for its action against drug trafficking under the ongoing anti-drug campaign in the Union Territory.

“J&K Police has laid out a comprehensive plan to completely choke drug entry routes. I am confident that the actions in the coming days will be stringent and will yield major successes,” he said.

More than 3,200 newly recruited constables were inducted into the Jammu and Kashmir Police force during the ceremony.

Among those present were Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo, Director General of Police Nalin Prabhat, Principal Secretary Home Chandraker Bharti, Special DG Coordination PHQ S.J.M. Gillani, Commandant General Home Guards Abdul Ghani Mir, and Principal Secretary to the Lieutenant Governor Mandeep K. Bhandari, besides senior police and civil administration officials and family members of the recruits.
